Vasque has been making hiking boots and cross trainers since 1965 when founder William D. Sweasy was inspired by the "outdoor recreation and mountaineering" wave hitting Europe at the time. Today the company manufactures a wide variety of outdoor hiking and running footwear and sponsors trail and cross country runners and events across the United States.

Models

Vasque men's hiking boots include the Breeze 7452, the Breeze GTX 7466, the Breeze GTX 7476, the Breeze Low VST 7080, the Breeze Low GTX 7084, the Ranger GTX 7214, the Synergist GTX 7394, and the Switchback GTX 7470. Similar models are available for women.

Specifications

The Breeze 7452 is 2 pounds and 8 ounces. Boots are available in regular sizes seven through 15 and wide sizes eight through 13.

Features

Most boot models include the VST Vasque Spine Technology, which is designed to "absorb shock and stabilize on uneven terrain," according to Vasque. Boots also feature an asymmetrical curved pad that runs along the foots arc, which is "ideal for people with a high arch" as it "places your foot in a more powerful position during toe off," according to Vasque.

Cost

In 2010 Vasque hiking boots range from $140 to $200 online. The Vasque website is equipped with a store locator that will help you find retail outlets near you.

Considerations

Vasque has partnered with Vibram which manufactures the outer soles of most of its hiking boots. According to Vasque "Vibram soles are synonymous with quality" and the company is known for its innovative designs.
