Safety and ease of removal are perhaps the most obvious reasons why you might choose a fake, or temporary, tattoo rather than a real one. Though often considered to be for children, temporary tattoos come in a wide variety of designs and styles attractive to adults as well. Fake tattoos generally stay on the skin from two to seven days--some last even longer--and are designed to be easily removed in minutes.

Step 1

Saturate a cotton ball with either rubbing alcohol or baby oil.

Step 2

Rub the tattooed area gently with the saturated cotton ball. Use a circular motion until the temporary tattoo begins to fade. Continue rubbing the area gently until the tattoo has faded completely.

Step 3

Use a dampened washcloth and soap to wash away any excess baby oil or rubbing alcohol from the surface of the skin. Rinse under warm water.

Tips and Warnings

  • You may have to repeat this process several times.
  • To avoid skin irritation, be careful not to scrub the skin too hard while removing the tattoo.
