Cambridge Beaches Resort, located on the western end of Bermuda, is one of the oldest and premiere resorts on the island nation. Spread across the 30-acre Bermuda peninsula, Cambridge Beaches Resort caters to a variety of clientele. Politicians, movie stars, athletes, and honeymooners have all made the resort their vacation destination.
History
Cambridge Beaches Resort was developed from a single cottage almost 300 years old. The Latin inscription on the resort's coat of arms translates to "First and Best," and the locate has been recognized as one of the oldest cottage style resorts in the world.
Accommodations
The resort offers 94 cottage rooms, each featuring a unique décor and furnishings. Some of the standard features of each cottage include a private patio or balcony, air conditioning, telephone, refrigerator, and high-speed Internet. Several of the rooms also have whirlpool tubs.
Families
The resort welcomes families, but all children must be over the age of five. There are plenty of activities for families including tennis, swimming, relaxing on the beach and fishing. Family reunions also can be held at the resort. There are often discounts or special packages available for families holding a reunion at the resort.
Activities
Resort visitors can play at any of Bermuda's golf courses. The resort concierge will arrange the time and transportation to the course. Visitors can also enjoy charter sail boat trips. The resort also offers scuba and snorkeling lessons and guided sessions.
Beaches
There are four beaches that surround the Cambridge Beach Resort. The Long Bay Beach is ½ mile long and is a peaceful place for a romantic picnic, morning yoga or meditation. Bird lovers will enjoy the wetland habitat that is adjacent to Long Bay Beach as many waterfowl and migratory birds can be seen there. The Morning Beach has waterfalls and a restaurant for swimmers and sun bathers. The other two beaches are the Turtle Cove Beach and Pegem Beach.
