Salicylic acid is a common ingredient in commercial acne treatment creams and cleansers; however, these products can be expensive. You can harness the healing powers of salicylates for very little money by making your own acne treatments out of crushed, uncoated aspirin. You can also use aspirin powder. Aspirin can be used as part of a face mask or spot treatment for treating blemishes.

Step 1

Crush five to 10 aspirin tablets to make a mask, or three to make a spot treatment paste. An easy way to crush aspirin is to fold them into a napkin and hit the napkin with a hammer; alternatively, you can crush the aspirin with the back of a spoon.

Step 2

Measure 1 tsp. of honey into a mixing bowl and add the aspirin powder.

Step 3

Add 1 tsp. of water. Stir the mixture to form a smooth paste, adding more water if necessary.

Step 4

Wash your face with a mild facial cleanser and pat it dry with a towel.

Step 5

Apply the aspirin mixture all over your face for a mask or to single blemishes as a spot treatment. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
