Strength shoes are worn by those who would like to build strength in their legs. Specifically, they help athletes who are interested in improving their jumping ability. Basketball players and volleyball athletes tend to use strength shoes and so do football players, soccer players and track and field athletes.
Step 1
Do squats while wearing your strength shoes. Use about 30 pounds less than you normally lift in your normal gym shoes. Put the weight on your chest with your feet pointing slighly outwards. Never point them inside or you could strain your knees. Slowly bend your knees until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Then go back to your starting position. Repeat this exercise 10 times, take a 1-minute break and do 10 more reps.
Step 2
Do lunges while wearing your strength shoes. Take one forward step of about 2-to-3 feet. Once your front foot is planted, your upper body and front knee should not move during the course of the exercise. Bend your back knee until it is about 2-to-3 inches above the ground. Hold that position for 5 seconds and then return it to the original position. Do 10 reps and then switch positions with your feet and do 10 more reps.
Step 3
Do calf raises. These exercises are excellent under all circumstances but they are even better when wearing strength shoes. Livt your heels off the ground as high as they will go and hold them for a count of four. Return them to the original position and then do 10 more reps. Take a 30-second break and do another set.
Step 4
Do a box jump to take advantage of your strength shoes and build added explosiveness in your calf musces. Set up a platform that is at least 6 inches off the ground to start and gradually build height until the box is 18 inches high. Do 10-to-12 reps in fairly rapid succession. Take a 30-second break and do another set.
Step 5
Do a box jump to take advantage of your strength shoes and build added explosiveness in your calf musces. Set up a platform that is at least 6 inches off the ground to start and gradually build height until the box is 18 inches high. Do 10-to-12 reps in fairly rapid succession. Take a 30-second break and do another set.
