A day of fishing can be a relaxing way for anyone to spend a day of work, or it can be an intense experience as you go for trophy fish off of a boat. Whether you are a first-timer, an experienced anglery or a top pro, you need to take a tackle box filled with the equipment you will need to enjoy your day and make your fishing experience a success.
Step 1
Put a needle-nose pliers in your tackle box. This is an essential item once you have hooked a fish and it has become embedded deeply in the fish. At that point it will be difficult to extract the hook from the fish. You need to add extra leverage, and that's where the pliers comes into play.
Step 2
A good knife is always essential when you are preparing for a day for fishing. You may have to cut bait, cut your line or free your boat after it has snagged on to seaweed or other debris. Many fisherman wouldn't even think of having a day of fishing without a knife.
Step 3
Pack your supply of lures and hooks in your tackle box. Your lures are essential when fishing in in fresh water. You may want to have your supply of jigs if you are going to be going after bass, because they seem to work best. Here's a hint: Combine your jig with bacon or ham because that really attracts the bass.
Step 4
Put a fully supply of bait in your tackle box. This is essential if you are going on a boat or trekking to an out-of-the-way fishing spot. You want to have your day's worth of bait with you. A full supply of nightcrawlers is excellent fishing bait.
Step 5
Make sure you take a full lunch and plenty of cold drinks with you when you are fishing in the heat of summer. Many tackle boxes have cold storage areas that you can use to store your food and drink. If you are fishing for 6 or more hours, this is essential.
Tips and Warnings
- It's fun to go fishing at the last minute but it's an even better experience when you can plan in advance and fill up your tackle box.
