VersaClimber Workouts

A VersaClimber is a full body workout machine that is designed to simulate climbing. It is a vertical machine, usually standing taller than its user, with handles and small platforms for your hands and feet. All four limbs are involved in the motion, and the machine offers both a cardiovascular and muscular workout. VersaClimber workouts can be measured by time, the distance traveled or climbed, or in traditional sets and repetitions. The VersaClimber is an intense workout, so consult your physician before you try it out.

Upper Body Only

A VersaClimber is able to isolate your upper body in a couple of different ways, as part of an overall workout or if your lower body needs a break. First, stand on the stationary plate in the middle of the unit, or on the floor if your model has no plate to stand on. Grab onto the handles with your palms facing the machine, and pull one side down, while stretching the other up. Concentrate on using your back muscles to pull the handle down, and your shoulder to push it up. Reverse your grip to focus the attention on your biceps and front of the shoulder.

Lower Body Only

Your VersaClimber can function as a step machine to work only your lower body, if you want to give your arms and shoulders a rest. Hold onto the stationary handles, then step onto the VersaClimber and start stepping. Vary your routine by taking short, fast strides, then switch to long, deep strides. Decide whether you want to step for a set amount of time, or specific distance before you start.

Total Body Climbing

For the highest aerobic and fat burning benefit from the VersaClimber, use your full body in a standard VersaClimber climbing motion. Hold the handles with your palms either up or down, and stand on the foot pedals. Concentrate on using the muscles in both your arms and legs to push and pull as your work through the movement. Modify your speed and stride length. Remember to breathe throughout the exercise, and stop if you feel any discomfort.
