What to Put in Tackle Box for Pre-Spawn Bass

Going fishing for a great game fish like pre-spawn bass represents a great challenge for even the most experienced anglers. These fish are available in the early days of spring and start off in deep water and the shadows before they move into the shallower staging areas of the water.

Bait

The first thing you must have in your tackle box to catch these pre-spawn bass are the foods they like to eat. One of the top baits you can use is crayfish. The bass are used to crayfish coming in tints of orange, yellow and blue so you should have crayfish of that color in order to fish with them.

Lures

Bait alone probably won't catch your bass. You need to attract them with plastic worms, lizards and jig-and-pig combinations. These lures will move and dance in the water and attract the pre-spawn bass.

Fish finder

Keep a fish finder in your tackle box and you will not waste your time. The bass often swim together in schools. You can guess where they might be or you can use a fish finder to tell you the area where they are swimming. Using a fish finder will help you enjoy your day of bass fishing.

Needle-nose pliers

When you are fishing for bass or any other game fish, you are often going to have to go after the hook with a pliers after you set the hook. It will be impossible to get the hook out without the tool and this will get it easily after you have caught the fish.

Food and drink

When you are bass fishing the last thing you want to do is leave your boat in the middle of the day in order to get a midday meal. It's best to have a cold compartment in your tackle box for a sandwich (or two) and a cold drink. This will save you time and money and help you avoid hunger.
