Keeping your clubs well-maintained is an important factor in making sure they will last for many seasons. A set of golf clubs can last 10 years or more, but you just cannot leave them i the bag. They need to be inspected, cleaned and polished if you want them to last for a decade.
Step 1
Get rid of dirt from your golf clubs on a regular basis. If you play three or more times a week, go over your clubs every other week with a damp wash cloth. You will want to remove dirt and other smudges from your clubs. Start at the grips and go down through the club face.
Step 2
Take the pointed end of a golf tee and get into the grooves on the face of each club. These grooves help you put spin on the ball that makes it fly straight down the fairway and then stop in the spot that you want it to on the green. These grooves will be rendered ineffective if they are caked with dirt. By using a golf tee to knock the dirt out of the grooves, your clubs will be in top playing condition.
Step 3
Take a gold club polish, such as Wilson golf club polish, and apply it with a soft cloth once the club is clean. The Wilson golf club polish comes in an easy-to-handle spray bottle and you should spray three or four squirts on the brush that comes with the kit before applying it to the shaft and the club face.
Step 4
Buff the clubs with a soft cloth. This will make the club shine and in many cases your clubs will have the original luster they were when you bought them. This will help your clubs look their best and help your play your best round of golf.
Step 5
Polish your clubs every three months if you play at least three rounds of golf a week. Your clubs take a tremendous beating -- especially when you are playing in the heat of summer or during the colder autumn months -- and they need to be maintained.
