Does a Pap Smear Check for Stds?

A pap smear does not specifically check for STDs. It is a scraping of cells from a woman's cervix to check for cancer. While the STD, human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cervical cancer, the pap smear is not checking for the STD. It is checking for the cancer.
