Apple cider vinegar is touted as a cure-all natural remedy, an alternative treatment for skin problems and varicose veins, and a natural cleaning product. Scientific research does not back up the efficacy of apple cider vinegar for most conditions except for weight loss. According to researchers at Arizona State University, apple cider vinegar lowers insulin levels in diabetic patients when ingested before meals. Apple cider vinegar may also help burn fat.
Step 1
Buy organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. The clear vinegar available in grocery stores lacks the nutrient-rich cloudy substance called "mother," which is where most of the acetic acid resides. Acetic acid is responsible for balancing blood sugar levels.
Step 2
Add 1 to 3 tsp. of apple cider vinegar to a glass and fill the remainder of the glass with water. To combat the bitter taste, add some raw honey, such a Manuka active honey.
Step 3
Drink the apple cider mixture 30 minutes before every meal, up to three times a day.
Tips and Warnings
- Always dilute apple cider vinegar with water or juice, so it does not burn your throat.
