Men want to look and feel good. Feeling good about yourself starts with good grooming. No matter what natural looks you may or may not have, good grooming can enhance your looks and give you the self-confidence you've always wanted. Shaving, plucking and trimming body hair, getting a manicure and having clear skin are all a part of good grooming.
Hair
Keep your hair neat. Whether you have tons of hair or just a little bit, keeping a washed and combed look will do wonders for your confidence. Try using a conditioner three to four times a week to keep your hair moisturized and manageable. If you are losing your follicles, keep your hair short. Shorter hair will make your hair appear thicker and the balding areas less noticeable. If you have nothing to work with, try shaving your head for a clean look. If you don't want to shave your head, try hair restoration such as Propecia or Rogaine to regrow your hair.
Shaving
Learn how to get a close shave. A close shave gives a man a clean and refreshed look. To get a close shave, start with a hot shower. Steaming up your beard in the shower for five to 10 minutes will soften your whiskers and loosen your pores that hold them. Lather on some shaving cream and let it sit on your face for a couple of minutes. Use a straight razor to get close to the skin. Shave with long downward motions to remove the whiskers. Lather your face again with shaving cream and this time shave against the grain in an upward motion. This second swipe will get your face smooth.
Trimming
Clean up your body hair. Some men have more body hair than others and oftentimes women don't like seeing hairy backs or other body parts. Take a razor to those areas that make you look like an ape. Target the back, upper arms, ears and nose. Don't shave off all your body hair unless you want to look like an Olympic swimmer. If you have thick lower arm and chest hair, you can trim those areas for a neatly groomed look.
Nails
Take care of your nails. Most men don't think twice about their finger and toe nails. You don't have to get them polished and painted like your female counterparts but you can trim them up and cut off the loose skin around your cuticles. Filing your nails close keeps them from looking shaggy and dirty.
Teeth and Ears
Pay attention to details. Don't forget to take care of the little things. Brush and floss your teeth to avoid dirty teeth and use a cotton swab a couple of times per week to clean out your ears. All these things should make you feel like a new man.
