Candida is a common infection that can manifest itself on any warm, moist area of the body. Because candida is a fungus, natural agents with antifungal properties, such as garlic, yogurt and apple cider vinegar are most appropriate. The natural treatment you use will depend on the location and severity of your infection. Like prescription treatments, natural remedies might work well for one person and not for another. Experiment until you find what works best for you.
Step 1
Treat vaginal candida by inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina before bed and removing it in the morning. Repeat until one day after your symptoms have resolved. According to the Yeast Infection Home Page, this is one of the most popular natural remedies for this condition due to garlic's renowned antifungal properties.
Step 2
Treat vaginal candida with yogurt. As yogurt's bacteria breaks down its solids, it produces hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct. This kills the candida fungus and restores balance. To use, dip a tampon into unflavored, unsweetened yogurt, insert the tampon into the vagina and leave in overnight. Do this each night until symptoms go away.
Step 3
Treat oral (mouth) candida by rinsing with a mixture of equal parts water and apple cider vinegar. This candida infection, commonly referred to as "thrush," causes white patches on the tongue and sides of the mouth. According to the Home Remedy Reference Center, you should use this rinse every three hours until all signs of infection have cleared.
Step 4
Use an antifungal herbal rinse to treat your oral thrush. The Home Remedy Reference Center says that sage and rosemary, when steeped into a strong tea, are effective treatments for this condition. To use, add 1 tbsp. each of sage and rosemary to a cup of hot water and allow to steep for 20 minutes. Strain the tea and use it as a rinse several times a day.
Step 5
Treat skin candida infections with apple cider vinegar. Create a mixture of equal parts water and apple cider vinegar and dab it on the affected areas with a clean cotton ball. Repeat three times a day.
Step 6
Use garlic for skin infections. There are two ways to use this treatment. Cut a whole garlic clove in half and rub it over the affected areas. This may cause burning and stinging. If the burning and stinging are too intense, cut three garlic cloves and steep them in 1/2 cup of olive oil for at least 24 hours. Use this infusion on the infected areas up to three times a day.
