How to Calibrate a Horizon Evolve Treadmill

The Horizon Evolve treadmill is an in-home treadmill designed to be compact and easy to use. Weighing only 99 lbs., the Evolve folds up to only 10 inches in height, for easy storage. No assembly is required; simply pull it out of the box and unfold it. The Evolve features a 1.5 horsepower motor which allows for speeds from 1 to 6 mph. Unlike many Horizon treadmills, the Evolve does not have an incline feature. Horizon's standard calibration procedures, therefore, don't apply. A tag on the Evolve provides calibration instructions specific to this model.

Step 1

Complete the calibration of the Horizon Evolve treadmill before you use the machine for the first time.

Step 2

Turn on the treadmill. Run the belt at a medium speed, 3 to 4 mph, for 60 minutes. This will help the belt align correctly and the motor speeds to run properly.

Step 3

Adjust the belt per the owner's manual. If you fail to calibrate the Evolve treadmill as listed above, the belt may slip off-center. Turn off and unplug the treadmill. Use the supplied Allen wrench to adjust the right rear roller adjustment bolt. If the belt slips to the right, tighten the bolt 1/4 turn, clockwise. If the belt slips to the left, loosen the bolt 1/4 turn, counterclockwise. After adjusting the bolt, turn the treadmill on and run the belt at 1 mph. Allow the belt to run for at least one full rotation. Adjust again if needed.
