Oral B is a company that designs and manufactures dental products and is part of the Proctor and Gamble family. Included in the Oral B line is a specialty dental floss called Ultra Floss. According to the Oral B website, Ultra Floss works well for those learning to floss their teeth or for those who find application of dental floss difficult. Ultra Floss contains fibers that will expand and contract based on need. For example, tightly spaced teeth may be tough to floss between. The Oral B Ultra Floss fibers will contract to allow the floss into the space and then expand to aid in cleaning. Flossing your teeth is a challenge that some people avoid because it is difficult. Oral B states that flossing as part of a regular dental care plan may help prevent periodontal disease and keep teeth healthy for life.

Step 1

Pull one segment of the Ultra Floss out of the container. One feature of Ultra Floss is the pre-measured strands. Grasp the end of the floss protruding from the top of the container with your fingertips and pull upward. The strand will break at the proper length for one flossing session.

Step 2

Wind the floss strand around the middle fingers of each hand, leaving a center section pulled tightly for flossing. Be careful not to wind the string too tightly around your fingers and cut off the circulation. The website SoftDental recommends you pinch the center section of floss between your thumbs and fingers to tighten the string, leaving 1 inch of exposed area for flossing.

Step 3

Slide the exposed area between two teeth using a sawing motion to push the string into the space. Move slowly to prevent cutting your gums. If you move too quickly the string may jerk upward suddenly and injure the gum tissue.

Step 4

Wrap the floss around one tooth, forming a "C" shape. Pull both hands either right or left to create the proper shape in the floss. Slide the floss up and down over the covered tooth to clean the enamel surface between the teeth. Move the string up under the gum line to clean that area. Soft Dental warns to always use an up and down motion with the floss to clean. Moving the floss side by side may cut into the gum. Once one side is complete, move the floss over the other tooth and repeat the process. Clean the space between each tooth with the Oral B Ultra Floss.
