The older we get, the more our skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles start to show. Elastin and collagen are proteins that work together to promote healing and rejuvenation within the body. Applying a mask highly concentrated in collagen and elastin will protect your skin against premature aging, smooth wrinkles, and combat sagging skin. In short, it will help the skin return to its original position when it's poked or pinched. Elastin collagen masks are available from department stores, boutiques and day spas. Unfortunately, there is no practical recipe for creating one at home, given the high expense required to procure the main ingredients.
Step 1
Exfoliate the skin of the face and neck with a gentle scrub or enzyme peel to remove the dead surface layer of skin.
Step 2
Blot the skin dry with a cotton round. Then, using your fingertips, apply a thin layer of the mask all over your face and neck. Avoid the eye area.
Step 3
Leave the mask on for 10 minutes. Rinse your face with cool water, using cotton rounds to remove any excess mask residue.
Step 4
Use the facial mask once or twice a week.
Tips and Warnings
- When applying and removing the mask, use soft, circular strokes and massage outwards from the center of the face. Following the application of the mask, apply a skin cream that matches your skin type. Apply sunblock to your skin daily. Taking vitamin C daily promotes collagen and elastin production.
- Consult an esthetician or dermatologist for best results. Avoid getting the mask in your eyes.
