Not everyone has the time to head to the gym and get on an abs machine in order to get a shapely core. Sometimes you only have a few minutes at the beginning or end of your day to get in a workout, and you need some quick abs exercises that don't require any equipment.
Jackknife Sit-up
Pretty much everyone knows how to do a classic sit-up. If you're looking for something a little more challenging, try the jackknife sit-up and get ready to feel your abs burning. Lie on your back on the floor with your feet extended so your body is straight. Rest your hands to the side of your body. Use your abdominal muscles to lift your upper body off the floor, keeping your back straight. This will engage your upper abdominal muscles. At the same time, bend your legs and bring your knees in toward your upper body as far as you can, engaging your lower ab muscles. Hold this position for one second, then return to the starting position. Repeat 10 to 12 times as part of your quick ab workout.
Lunge Lean
The lunge lean incorporates your leg muscles and all of your core muscles to give you a quick ab workout wherever you are. To do this exercise, start in the traditional lunge position by stepping forward with your left foot and bending at the knee. Bend your right foot and lower it to the floor until your left leg forms a 90-degree angle. Put your hands on the sides of your hips and lean forward. Straighten out your right leg, using your ab and core muscles to keep your balance. Repeat the exercise 8 to 10 times. Then switch legs and repeat.
V-Ups
The V-up will truly challenge your abdominal strength. Start by lying on the floor in the same starting position as the jackknife sit-up. Raise your arms above your head and lift your upper body off the floor, keeping your back straight. At the same time, lift your legs off the floor, keeping them together and straight, and point them toward the ceiling. Touch your arms to your toes. Hold for one second and then return to the starting position. Do 10 to 12 V-ups as part of your quick abdominal workout.
