NordicTrack Treadmill Problems

NordicTrack is a well-known manufacturer of treadmills and other types of cardiovascular equipment. When the company was founded in 1975, it specialized in cross-country ski simulators. Then, in the late 1980s fitness enthusiasts became interested in a more aggressive type of workout. NordicTrack management then decided to diversify, so that they could keep their fitness industry market share. Although there have been some problems with NordicTrack treadmills, some are specific to certain models, and others are user issues.

Console Problems

There have been numerous console complaints about the NordicTrack View Point 3000 Treadmill. After as little as 10 uses, the screen begins to flicker, numbers and letters do not show on the screen, and the pulse monitor seems inaccurate.

Low Quality Parts

The NordicTrack EPX 1000 is considered an entry-level treadmill, which is somewhat more affordable than the more sophisticated models. Unfortunately, some users have found that they get what they pay for. Its low-quality plastic parts make it an extremely noisy machine.

Motor Problems

The motor on the NordicTrack EPX 1000 is not powerful enough for a 30-minute workout. Apparently, the machine has a tendency to shut off during use.

Belt Stopping

The belt may often stop moving. If this happens, check the tension between the belt and the board. You should be able to lift the belt about 4 inches. If there is no problem with the tension, the belt may require lubrication.

Heart Rate Monitor Malfunction

If you are not getting a reading from the heart rate monitor, make sure that it is placed under your clothing and high on your pectoral muscles. The logo on the sensor should be right side up.
