The Blood Type Diet was created by Dr. Peter D'Adamo, who believes that what you eat should be based on your blood type, which he says determines what foods you can process better than others. According to Every Diet, there's little scientific evidence to back up D'Adamo's claims, but the overall dietary changes he suggests are nonetheless healthy and may result in weight loss, regardless of whether you're type O or not.

Step 1

Make all your meals protein-based. According to Run the Planet, type O people should concentrate on all types of meat as their main source of food. Dairy, on the other hand, should be avoided as much as possible.

Step 2

Keep your carbohydrate intake to a minimum. Type O should avoid grains, pastas, cereals, and certain beans and legumes. Run the Planet recommends also avoiding certain fruit, such as blackberries, oranges, bananas, melons and tangerines. Other fruit and vegetables are acceptable. According to D'Adamo's official website, type O can be sensitive to wheat and should avoid products containing it.

Step 3

Eat seafood and fish if you're trying to lose weight. Type O loses weight when eating seafood, including halibut, swordfish, snapper, herring and cod. Sea kelp is also helpful for weight loss, as are organ meats such as liver.

Step 4

Eliminate caffeine and alcohol from your diet. According to D'Adamo, type O can be prone to destructive behavior, so it's best to avoid anything that may excite or affect your reasoning. Instead, use exercise to release tension and maintain your energy levels.
