How to Remove Super Glue Off of the Skin

Super glue can be used in a variety of home repair and craft projects. Super glue works almost like magic, gluing objects tightly together in a solid bond in only seconds. Although the glue is handy, its speed and ease of use can be a drawback. One careless move can mean that before you know it, super glue is firmly stuck to your skin.

Soapy water

Step 1

Fill a bowl with warm water. Add enough liquid dish soap or liquid castile soap to form a slippery solution.

Step 2

Soak the area in the soapy water until the glue is softened. If the affected area is too large to soak in a bowl, dip a washcloth in the soapy water and dab it gently on the affected area.

Step 3

Use a narrow object such as a pencil, the handle of a teaspoon or a thin spatula to peel the glue from the skin, or scrub the glue loose with a wet washcloth. You may need to soak the area several times.

Nail polish remover

Step 1

Dab nail polish remover containing acetone on your skin with a cotton ball or washcloth, or pour the polish remover into a bowl.

Step 2

Soak the area for several minutes.

Step 3

Peel the glue away, then wash your skin with warm, soapy water.

Step 4

Apply a body lotion or moisturizer to minimize drying effect of super glue and nail polish remover.
