Losing weight is difficult, especially when you're attempting to drop those pounds as quickly as possible. Dieting and exercise routines often take time and plenty of patience. Certain methods and diet choices, however, can speed up weight loss and make it easier to shed pounds in less time.
Drink Water
Drinking more water may seem a given when giving up sugary liquids like soda and fruit juice, but the simple method helps shed pounds in more ways than one. People who consume water before each meal, according to "Bloomberg BusinessWeek," intake fewer calories and lose weight more quickly than those who skip drinking water. The easy and fast trick also allows for less of an appetite during the day. The "Bloomberg BusinessWeek" article also reports that people who drink more water before meals not only are able to keep the pounds off for longer, but they continue to lose more weight than those who aren't drinking extra water before meals.
Exercise in Bursts
According to an article on the "Marie Claire" magazine website, it's important to exercise daily, but--rather than cramming workouts into one long 30-minute routine--switch to 10-minute bursts. The article says that intermittent physical activity like walking is "just as effective at clearing fat from the bloodstream as exercising continuously for 30 minutes." Plus, fat-clearing enzymes peak close to about 10 hours after exercise, so exercising in bursts means you will have these enzymes in your bloodstream throughout the day, instead of just once.
Lift Weights
Whether it's hitting the gym or doing some strength training at home, lifting weights is one of the fastest ways to drop pounds and burn calories, according to a report from WTNH-TV. Start with an 8-lb. weight or more, if possible. Try to do as many as three sets of 15, or more, repetitions every other day. To speed up calorie burning, add jumping jacks, jump rope or leg lifts to exercise routine in between weight reps. Lifting weights, says the report, can make a fast and significant difference in "arm jiggle" and "bra flab."
