Cellulite can pop up almost anywhere on your body; you may even find yourself noticing it at this very moment. Getting rid of cellulite takes the same approach as fat loss because cellulite is nothing more than excess body fat that groups together beneath the skin. In your home, you can modify your diet and perform exercises that enhance your physical fitness to get rid of cellulite.
Step 1
Reduce your daily intake of fats and added sugars. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says that you should eat foods that have less than five percent of the daily value of all types of fat per serving. Avoid foods that have glucose, fructose, corn syrup or any other added sugar as one of the first four or five ingredients.
Step 2
Eat more nutritious foods to promote a healthy body composition. Include vegetables, fruits, lean protein, low-fat dairy products and lean protein in your meals and snacks. Lean protein comes from skinless poultry, turkey, fish, and whey or soy protein.
Step 3
Drink more water to reduce the appearance of cellulite. According to ShapeFit.com, dehydration can make cellulite more noticeable. Drink at least 64 oz. of water per day. Sip on water while exercising to replace lost fluids from perspiration.
Step 4
Execute daily cardio exercise to remove excess body fat and cellulite. Perform at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise five days a week at a moderate to fast pace. Use home cardio equipment such as a treadmill, stationary bike or elliptical trainer. You can also walk or run in your neighborhood, play team sports with family and friends, bike, swim or perform step aerobics.
Step 5
Engage in strength-training exercises for your entire body. Perform exercises that engage your body's weight, such as push-ups and squats. Perform five exercises each for your upper body and lower body at least three times per week. The American College of Sports Medicine suggests that you perform eight to 12 repetitions per exercise.
