Tea Tree Oil Acne Treatments

Tea tree oil is often used as an alternative treatment for a variety of conditions. Everything from scalp fungus to vaginal itching can purportedly be cured by use of tea tree oil. However, this substance does show promise in the treatment of acne, specifically because of its oil-absorbing and skin-smoothing properties.

Tea Tree Oil Gel

You can easily make a gel out of tea tree oil to apply to skin as a quick acne fix. Just mix together 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil with 9 teaspoons of aloe vera gel. You can increase the measurements, so long as they remain in the same ratio, to make a bigger batch. Whenever you have a blemish you want to zap, just dab a bit of the gel onto your skin overnight. Repeat until the blemish is gone.

Tea Tree Oil Astringent

Tea tree oil also works as an astringent. Simply combine 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil with 9 teaspoons of water. Mix well. Soak up some of the mixture onto a cotton ball and swipe over your face after cleansing. This helps to remove impurities in the pores, clear off excess dirt, oil and dead skin cells and reduce inflammation in blemishes you currently have as well as prevent new ones from forming.

Tea Tree Oil Mask

Another tea tree oil treatment for acne involves making a mask. Get natural green clay powder from your local supermarket or alternative health store and add a few drops of tea tree oil to it. Then add water until the mixture turns into a paste. You can apply this mask to your face up to twice a week to even the skin tone and reduce redness and inflammation of current blemishes, hastening their healing. For added pimple busting, apply the mask onto individual blemishes before sleeping and rinse off in the morning.
