When your feet begin to exhibit signs of dry skin, such as flaking and itching, it's not only uncomfortable, but can make it embarrassing to wear sandals. Our feet tend to get neglected as it's easy to throw shoes on them and not worry, but when you're feet become uncomfortable or even painful, it's a problem that can affect everything from mobility to concentration. Perhaps it's time to break away from the daily grind and give your feet some much needed care.
Step 1
Scrub the dry areas of your feet with a pumice stone to remove any excess dry skin. Be gentle and only use as much pressure as needed, stop if you feel pain.
Step 2
Fill a tub with warm water and add 1 cup of Epsom salt.
Step 3
Soak your feet in the solution for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4
Dry your feet off thoroughly with a soft, clean, dry towel.
Step 5
Rub lotion all over your feet and put on some soft cotton socks. Do this before bed each night to help get rid of the dry skin and keep it away. Repeat this process daily until your dry skin is gone.
Tips and Warnings
- Consider wearing shoes that allow your feet more room to move around. Tight shoes can lead to calluses, which can make the problem worse.
- Sometimes dry skin on your feet can be an indication of other problems, such as athlete's foot or poor circulation. If nothing helps to get rid of the dry skin, talk to your doctor for suggestions and advice.
