Using hot or cold wax to remove hair from your legs is quick and effective but is not without potential pitfalls. Besides being temporarily painful, waxing can leave behind wax residue on your skin, which can be difficult and uncomfortable to pick off. Instead of picking, there are several methods to remove the wax painlessly.

Step 1

Dip a cloth or cotton ball in baby oil or mineral oil and use it to wipe the oil over the wax.

Step 2

Allow the oil to sit on the wax for a minute or two to break down the wax. Gently rub off the oil and wax with a wet, soapy cloth.

Step 3

Try lemon juice instead of baby or mineral oil if you don't have either oil on hand. Application and removal of the juice is the same as with the oil.

Step 4

Prevent future wax buildup on your skin by lightly dusting your skin with talcum powder before waxing. This will encourage the wax to adhere to your hair and not to your skin.

Things You'll Need

  • Cloth or cotton ball
  • Baby oil or mineral oil
  • Lemon juice
  • Soap
