How to Get Rid of Skin Tags on the Face

Skin tags are small flaps of skin that can form on almost any part of the body. While they typically occur in areas of regular movement, such as elbows, armpits or neck, they also can occur on the face. Should a skin tag happen to grow on your face, visit your doctor to get the best possible treatment. However, if you do not have the time or money for a doctor visit, you have a couple home treatment options that may address the problem.

Liquid Bandage Method

Step 1

Wash the affected area with warm water and soap. Pat the skin dry with a towel.

Step 2

Apply a layer of liquid bandage to the skin tag. Be sure to coat the entire skin tag as the bandage should essentially suffocate the tag.

Step 3

Wash the liquid bandage off after 8 hours and apply a new coat. The liquid bandage may rub off throughout the day, so you should reapply a new coat twice per day.

Step 4

Continue to remove and reapply the liquid bandage twice per day until the skin tag falls off. Depending on the size of the skin tag, it may take anywhere from three days to several weeks.

Dental Floss Method

Step 1

Cut a 6-inch piece of dental floss off of a dental floss roll. This is more floss than needed to tie off the skin tag, but the extra length makes it easier to work with.

Step 2

Wrap the dental floss around the base of the skin tag. Get the floss as close to the surface of your skin as possible.

Step 3

Pull the floss tightly and tie it in a knot to ensure it stays attached to the skin tag. It may be difficult to do this on some areas of your face, so ask a friend or family member for assistance if necessary.

Step 4

Cut all excess floss with scissors. Leave the floss tied around the skin tag until the tag falls off, usually within a few days. If the floss falls off the skin tag at any point, tie new floss around it as soon as possible.
