White scalp is a condition normally associated with dandruff. Dandruff refers to the excessive shedding of the scalp's skin cells. Treating dandruff will not only stop this shedding but also eliminate the white scalp appearance. It is important to consult your dermatologist before starting treatment at home. If treatment is not effective, you may have a fungal infection.

Step 1

Shampoo your hair with a dandruff shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, suggests "Fitness Magazine." Zinc pyrithione treats the hair follicles and reduces inflammation and skin cell shedding. Regular shampoos may contribute to dryness, worsening your scalp's condition.

Step 2

Practice yoga and breathing techniques to reduce stress. According to MayoClinic.com, stress actually worsens scalp whiteness and dandruff or causes it to form. Regular exercise is also ideal for relieving stress and promoting a calm, relaxed atmosphere.

Step 3

Apply conditioning treatments to your hair after washing. According to "Fitness Magazine," conditioner is also essential to managing scalp health and reducing dandruff. Massage conditioner into damp hair and allow to set for one to two minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Step 4

Skip styling aids when they are not necessary. MayoClinic.com advises that overuse of styling aids adds buildup to your scalp and promotes excess oil production. This can make your scalp appear white and dry. Allow your hair to air-dry and try an au naturel look.

Step 5

Allow your head to come in contact with the sun's rays in short intervals. According to MayoClinic.com, short bouts of sun exposure are good for dandruff and white scalp. You do not want to stay outdoors for extended periods of time, however. Cover all other exposed areas with sunscreen and protective clothing to prevent sunburn.
