NACO Resorts is a timeshare company that provides private campground memberships across the United States for RVs, campers and trailers. Campground ownerships range from a single-site membership to a multi-system program that includes several campgrounds. NACO campgrounds provide amenities commonly found at resorts, as well as gated security. There is currently only one NACO Resorts campsite in the state of Florida.

Location

The Thousand Trails/NACO campsite, Peace River, is located in Wauchula, Florida, south of the Tampa and Orlando metropolitan areas. It is situated within day-trip distance to either city as well as to the west coast of Florida's white sand beaches, allowing members to take advantage of a wide variety of activities outside the usual camping agenda.

Amenities

Peace River offers abundant amenities for its members, who are kept well-entertained with Wi-Fi access, an adult center, boat launch, heated pool, canoes, equipment rental, recreation hall, horseshoe pits, pickleball courts, spa, playground and bike rentals. Members can take advantage of full food service or stop in at the country store or trading post. Many will enjoy hiking on Peace River's nature trails and absorbing the beauty of its riverside location.

Costs

The costs associated with a NACO campground include the membership fee and the daily camping fee. Membership fees can vary, depending on where you buy and whether you are able to find a promotion or package deal. Memberships can be purchased through the Thousand Trails website, which offers levels of membership at different price points. As of 2010, campsite reviews indicate that the daily fee at Peace River falls somewhere around $45, but of course, this will vary slightly, depending on the type of site you choose. Some amenities, such as bike rentals and food service, will be extra.

Features

NACO campsites offer a few features not regularly available at non-membership sites. NACO campsites are not only gated for safety, but are fully staffed, including rangers on duty 24 hours per day for additional security. Peace River is a large camping resort with 200 full-hookup sites, 200 water/power-only sites and nine cabins. Honeywagon service is provided January through March.

Special Considerations

December 15 through March 15 is peak season at the Peace River preserve, so it is recommended that you make reservations at least 90 days in advance for that time of year. You will want to take Florida seasonal weather into account when planning a trip to Peace River, especially keeping hurricane season in mind. In addition, be aware that Peace River campground does feature an ATV track, which is near some of the sites. You will want to make sure you do not get a site near the track if you are prefer quiet surroundings.
