Las Vegas, Nevada is located near the southern tip of the state. Although the city is mostly known for its gambling and casinos, it also offers some spectacular outdoor scenery with chances to head out on a party boat with a group or go fishing for the day. It features several nearby national parks, including the very popular Lake Mead, which is the largest reservoir in the country. Visitors can also explore the varied terrain offered by Lake Mohave, Lake Havasu, and more.

Events on Party Boats

If you are looking for a break from the casinos and clubs, you can explore the area lakes and rivers on a party boat. These trips are especially popular for group events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, and bachelor and bachelorette parties. You can customize your trip with food, drinks, dancing, and other entertainment including casino games. Different options are available from different companies depending on your timing and budget.

Lakes

Despite being a dessert town, Las Vegas has several lakes in the area that offer chances to head out boating or fishing. Lake Las Vegas is a smaller lake located right in the city, offering boat rides and fishing. However, there are numerous larger bodies of water ringing the city as well. Lake Havasu, Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, Cottonwood Cove, and others offer a variety of terrain depending on your fishing or boating wants or needs.

Fishing Tours

If you are looking for an organized fishing trip, there are numerous chartered tours available to fishing enthusiasts in Las Vegas. Most of the fishing trips are for private groups of 2 to 6 people, although group trips and larger trips are available if needed. The tours include a guided trip to the best fishing areas, instruction in fishing, and all equipment and fishing licenses. More experienced fishing enthusiasts can bring their own equipment if they prefer.

Fishing Licenses and Rules

If you are looking to strike out on your own, you can rent a boat and head out fishing for the day as long as you obtain a license first. Since Lake Mead borders Arizona, fishermen looking to fish at both sides of the lake must obtain license from Arizona as well as Nevada. If you are specifically fishing for trout, a special trout stamp is required. While fishing in Nevada, there are also several rules that must be followed. The fishing rod must be closely attended at all times and a fishermen cannot attach more than three baited hooks or more than two lures to a single line.

Types of Fish

You should be able to catch a variety of fish, depending where you go. Lake Mead and Lake Mohave both have Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass, Channel Catfish, Crappie, and Bluegill. Lake Mohave is also known for its Rainbow Trout. More adventures enthusiasts can also head to the less well-known Willow Beach for Big Trout or Cottonwood Cove and Katherine for Bass.
