On average, your hair grows at about 1cm a month and keeps growing at a steady pace. Most people's hair only grows a maximum of about 6 inches a year. Your strands of hair are at different points in their growth cycle. This means that some patches of hair can grow in faster than others. Usually, growing a full beard takes around three to four weeks, but there are ways to speed up the process.

Step 1

Eat at least three servings of protein in your daily diet. Hair is mostly made up of protein, so eating small amounts of protein can cause the hair to grow thinner and slow the growth cycle.

Step 2

Sleep at least seven to nine hours every night. Hair maximizes its growth cycle at night, so it needs an adequate amount of rest each night to grow longer and faster.

Step 3

Take a biotin dietary supplement every day. Biotin is known to help speed up nail and hair growth. Take 2.5mg each day for best results.

Step 4

Massage your facial hair every day to help your beard grow faster. Massaging helps increase blood circulation in the areas you massaged, which in turn can help your beard grow faster.

Step 5

Quit smoking and stop any excessive drinking of alcohol or carbonated drinks. Such things can weaken and deplete the antioxidants in your body. This can slow the growth cycle of your facial hair.

Tips and Warnings

  • To combat itchiness, shampoo your beard a couple of times a week.
  • Consult your doctor before doing any treatments without medical advice.
