Overview

Flirtation is as old as male-female relationships. The game of flirting with someone you are interested in can be both thrilling and confusing, particularly if you're not sure what you are doing--or what he is doing. Flirting becomes much tougher when you don't understand the signals you're receiving and interpret them as something other than interest. Flirting with the eyes is very common because it can be done across a room and is non-committal, meaning you can quit at any time without feeling burned.

Step 1

Make sure your eyes connect--it's not flirting if you aren't both aware of it. But don't stare without blinking until she can feel your gaze burning on her neck--be involved with something else, be it a television screen or a conversation, and glance frequently until your eyes meet.

Step 2

Hold your stare for an extra beat. This communicates to the other person that you have taken an interest in him. Hopefully, the other person will realize that you're expressing attraction and not examining him for imperfections.

Step 3

Be conscious of your facial expressions. In the eyes, this mostly concerns the eyebrows--although you don't want to look sleepy, either. Make sure your brow isn't furrowed or angry-looking. You may want to keep your eyebrows slightly more raised than normal. This will make you look more approachable.

Step 4

Remember to smile. It will show in your eyes.

Step 5

Give the individual a wink. This is a more aggressive approach to flirting with the eyes, but it is effective. After a wink, it's probably time to move in and strike up a conversation.
