Membership

Minnesota bass fishing clubs generally require membership to partake in the activities and events that they hold each year. Applications for membership requires such information as your name, address, and an agreement to abide by the club by-laws. Membership fees vary but as of 2010 are generally about $20 to $30 per year. Some bass fishing clubs in Minnesota require prior membership to the Bass Angler Sportsman Society, or B.A.S.S., which is a national bass fishing organization. B.A.S.S. requires additional annual dues in exchange for access to newsletters, tournaments, and other bass fishing activities.

Fishing clubs are generally located near areas where bass fishing occurs. Clubs are located in the cities of Maple Grove, Minneapolis, and Bloomington.

Considerations

Bass fishing clubs in the state of Minnesota have different requirements, such as involvement levels, locations, number of yearly tournaments, membership dues, and activities offered for youth. The amount of tournaments per year can vary between clubs considerably; one club may have one annual tournament while another larger club may have up to 10. Location is a big consideration for most, as being an active part of a club can be achieved much more reasonably if the club is closer to your home in Minnesota.

History

Official bass clubs have been in existence in Minnesota state since the B.A.S.S. chapter program began in 1968. At this time B.A.S.S. decided to help unite the smaller clubs so that greater event planning and organization could take place. Of course, fisherman have been joining together and bass fishing for a much longer time than B.A.S.S. has been in existence in the state of Minnesota.
