Free healthy diet plans for kids are designed to help kids lose weight through exercise and smart eating. Although a diet plan is designed to give a child solid structure and stability, many diet plans can be varied and customized for kids with different interests and weight-loss goals. Healthy diet plans range from traditional to vegetarian.

Full Day Meal Plan

This full day meal plan is designed to reduce your caloric intake and increase your healthy vitamin intake. Start the day with a large scrambled egg, prepared over an oil sprayed pan. Add a piece of toast with a small slice of butter and half a grapefruit to your breakfast as well. To drink, have a cup of skim or 1 percent milk. For lunch, have a chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread, using 3 oz of cooked chicken. For side dishes, have an apple or a cup of fresh carrots. For a drink have a juice pack. For dinner, prepare 3 oz of roast beef or prime rib. You can substitute any meat you like to give your dinner variety. Complement this meal with a side of broccoli as well as a side salad.

1,400 Calorie Food Plan

This 1,400 calorie food plan is designed to give your child a healthy diet regimen to follow each day of the week. Start your diet out with 5 oz of grains each day. Grains come in many forms but can often start a child's day as a bowl of cereal. According to My Pyramid, substituting whole grain products for refined grained products is the best way to maximize the nutritional value of your grain consumption. From here, one and a half cups of fruits and vegetables can be spread out through the course of an entire day. Meat and beans should be limited to 4 oz a day, either at lunch or at both lunch and dinner. In terms of dairy, 2 cups of milk is all your child needs for a full day.

Snacking Diet Plan

This snacking diet plan is designed to highlight good snacks for your child to eat as well as alternatives to unhealthy snacks that kids often request. If your child enjoys chips and other fried snack foods, try offering him apple chips instead. Thinly slice apples into chips and crisp them in the oven. Put them into packs for your kid to eat instead of chips. If your child enjoys soda, make him homemade orange soda. Start with a bottle of orange juice and basic soda water. Place the soda water into a cup and add a decent amount of orange juice. Stir it up and let your kids enjoy this natural and healthy alternative to soda.
