How to Make a Diaper Changing Station

Wherever you take a baby, there is a good chance you will have to change his diaper. It is easy to make a portable diaper changing station that will include everything you need to change your baby's diaper. It can include sanitation products to ensure a clean place for the baby and a sterile environment for everyone nearby. A diaper changing station can help simplify a hectic life with a baby.

Step 1

Find a large tote or bag. Choose one that has compartments on the outside of the bag that you can zip or Velcro open or shut.

Step 2

Sit the bag upright so the bottom is sitting on a table or the floor. Cut a slit down the side of the bag from the top down to the bottom. Repeat on the other side. This will allow you to open the bag and lay it flat out on a surface.

Step 3

Sew or use double-sided adhesive to attach a soft, plastic changing pad to the inside of the bag. When you open the bag, it will turn into a soft, cleanable surface to lay baby on.

Step 4

Attach a zipper or Velcro to the slits you cut in the bag so it can be sealed shut or be opened when necessary.

Step 5

Use the compartments in the bag to organize the supplies needed to change a baby. You can easily sew on additional compartments if needed. Supplies you should include are diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes to clean the pad and diaper rash balm. Include plastic bags to put soiled diapers in.

Step 6

Keep a fun baby toy in the bag to occupy the baby while you are cleaning her. Choose an item she finds especially interesting and only give it to her when changing her diaper so she does not get bored with it. You can switch toys from time to time.
