No oil can eliminate facial lines and wrinkles, prevent new wrinkles from forming or reverse the effects of sunlight, but keeping the skin moist and hydrated can make wrinkles appear less noticeable. Certain oils do the job nicely, improving the appearance of the skin by protecting the skin's outer layer and keeping the skin smooth and supple, according to experts at Harvard Medical School.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is a powerful moisturizer and healing oil that can mimic the natural oils found in the skin while helping to repairing dry skin damaged by sun or environmental pollutants. Add a few drops of jojoba oil to your favorite moisturizer, then massage the moisturizer into your skin. Jojoba oil can also be used as a carrier oil, blended with a few drops of skin-friendly essential oils such as carrot seed, neroli, rose, myrrh or frankincense.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil can do wonders for mature skin, helping to ward off signs of aging such as wrinkles, blemishes and liver spots. A potent natural oil, coconut oil can heal by penetrating deeply into the skin. Massage coconut oil directly into the skin, or add a small amount of rose or orange flower essential oil for a delightful scented oil.

Olive Oil

Olive oil, a powerful moisturizer used in beauty treatments for centuries, remains an effective oil for mature, wrinkled or sun-damaged skin. Olive oil's healing qualities are due to the high level of antioxidants found in the oil. Smooth olive oil into the skin or combine it with other ingredients to make a moisturizing facial mask. Try a few drops of oil blended with a ripe, mashed avocado. Use extra-virgin olive oil and avoid oils that are chemically processed.

Emu Oil

Emu oil is a powerful, non-irritating moisturizer that is easily absorbed into the deep layers of the skin. The oil has a high level of nourishing fatty acids, and is hypoallergenic, making it a useful facial treatment for thin, sensitive skin. Emu oil can be massaged into the skin, or can be used as a carrier oil by adding a few drops of essential oils. Use a pure, fully refined emu oil.
