Drug addiction is a major culprit behind many shattered lives. Substances initially sought out of curiosity or for a good time often turned out to be hard to pull away from and easy to become dependent on. Trying to stop using drugs one one's own can be overwhelming, causing a person to grow frustrated, depressed and powerless. As of 2009, Mississippi has 774 beds for people seeking drug rehabilitation; that figure does not include some private organizations that also welcome the opportunity to help you live drug free.
Function
A drug rehabilitation center is an agency designed to offer treatment to any individual needing treatment for drug dependency. These facilities, located throughout the state of Mississippi, admit patients on a first come, first serve basis. The Drug Rehab organizational website, an online national database established in 2002 by a not-for-profit social betterment organization to help families locate abuse treatment centers states, says, "the average Mississippi rehab center has a success rate of two to 22 percent; exceptional institutions have rates as high as 70 percent."
Types
Drug rehabilitation centers offer two types of programs for a patient: outpatient and inpatient rehab.
Outpatient drug rehab is offered to qualified individuals who show the ability to maintain a drug-free living without having to leave their home environment for a long term. In such a program, rehabilitation is offered in the form of group meetings, peer counseling and possible daily educational classes.
Inpatient rehab is the other type; it requires a patient to check in to the facility for a predetermined length of time. This type of program is highly effective when followed with outpatient services. Inpatient rehab involves three cycles to start the recovery process: a physical one that involves detoxification, a psychological one in which psychological therapies are introduced in the case of known or recently discovered disorders, and an emotional cycle, the stage in which the treated adult receives spiritual guidance for maintaining sobriety.
Locations
Pine Grove is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and has been in operation since 1984. This facility serves adults, children and adolescents who are struggling with addictions. Pine Grove has outpatient, inpatient and residential programs; treatment is available in these programs for addictions, eating disorders and interpersonal difficulties. If you are interested, Pine Grove requires an interview during which payment options will be discussed. Depending on your specific situation, a clinical staff member will make a recommendation for one of their available programs.
A Bridge to Recovery is an outpatient rehabilitation establishment with two locations, Ridgeland and Southaven, Mississippi. The professionals at A Bridge to Recovery believe that appropriate care, planning and abstinence will lead to a continued success of refraining from self-destructive behaviors. Treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, sexual addiction, eating disorders and codependency is available. An interview is needed for admission to the program. A Bridge to Recovery works closely with other rehabilitation facilities and may provide referral for patients needing more than outpatient treatment.
Cost
The Drug Rehab website estimate a typical 28-day inpatient rehab center treatment costs $20,000 to $50,000. Currently, health insurance including Medicaid may be able to help pay for the cost of detoxification treatment and certain prescribed medications. When no insurance is available, there are state funded facilities that offer 28-day inpatient rehabilitation programs at no charge to the patient.
Considerations
Relapsing is a major concern for a rehab patient as well as for the patient's family and friends. When someone you know has tried local facilities in Mississippi and still can not maintain sobriety, don't lose hope. Rainbow Canyon Retreat in Caliente, Nevada, is the only rehab facility in the nation that guarantees that a patient is allowed to stay as long as needed and that, if within six months of the patient's leave from the facility they return back to drug usage, the patient will be readmitted with no charge.
