Montgomery, the state capital of Alabama, is home to a wealth of historical, cultural and enriching attractions for everyone, including toddlers. The Montgomery Zoo
The Montgomery Zoo is a barrier-free zoo established on 40 acres. The zoo has a collection of 700 animals from five continents. Native landscaping is created for each animals natural habitat including vegetation and waterfalls. Train rides are available for a fee. Toddlers will enjoy the animal snack zones at the North American River Otter habitat and Koi Fish pond. The otters perform by diving for the nutritional snacks, purchased by the children. Open year round except major holidays. Admission is charged.

The Mooseum
The Mooseum is a museum of cattle with hands-on activities that help people of all ages learn about Alabama's cattle industry. Sites to see at Mooseum include "Dusty," a Texas Longhorn. Dusty's horns span six feet. While at the Mooseum the toddlers will learn interesting facts about cows, dress up as characters in different rooms and participate in hands-on activities. Admission is free. Call to schedule a group.

Rosa Parks Library and Museum
Rosa Parks ignited the 1955 bus boycott in Alabama which was a turning point to gaining Civil Rights for African Americans. In her honor the museum was established and houses a children's wing which provides a child-focused presentation. A multi-media presentation is conducted through a "Time Machine" which prepares children for reenactments of pivotal points involving Ms. Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr. and other early Civil Rights leaders. Open Monday through Saturday. Admission is charged.

The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts provides opportunities for preschool children to experience the museum through an annual puppet show called "Colors of the City." Admission to tour the museum is free. Studio classes are available (some require a fee) at age two with choices such as "Tales for Tots," a class used to introduce young children to art, and "Art Play," which focuses on drawing, painting and sculpture.
