A form of microscopic bacteria that is invisible to the human eye may be able to help reduce your health problems, according to MayoClinic.com in the article "Probiotics: Important For a Healthy Diet?" Probiotics are helpful bacteria found in a variety of foods that may help reduce symptoms of gastric upset and treat vaginal bacterial infections. Consult your doctor before using probiotic bacteria to treat any medical conditions.

Lactobasillus Acidophilus

Lactobasillus acidophilus is a type of probiotic bacteria that is most often found in yogurt. It is also a bacteria that is naturally found in the vagina and small intestines. Consuming approximately between 1 and 10 billion live bacteria may help reduce the symptoms of intestinal disorders, like diarrhea, and vaginal bacterial infections. Lactobasillus acidophilus helps produce lactase, vitamin K, lactocidin, acidolphilin and acidolin in the body.

Lactobacillus Plantarum

Lactobacillus plantarum is found naturally in the intestines, but it is also present in fermented foods, like pickles, sourdough bread, kimchi and sauerkraut. Lactobacillus may prevent harmful bacteria from forming in the intestines and causing bowel distress. The bacteria may also help reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Over-the-counter supplements containing lactobacillus plantarum are also available at drugstores and health food stores.

Lactobacillus Rhamnosus

Lactobacillus rhamnosus, also known as lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, is a probiotic bacteria that is found in yogurt. Lactobacillus rhamnosus is not easily broken down by stomach acids, so it can travel to the intestines without being removed from the body. The probiotic bacteria attaches to the intestinal lining, which may help reduce the effects of harmful bacteria in the intestinal tract, according to the National Cancer Institute in the article, " Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG." Consuming lactobacillus rhamnosus may also help prevent urinary tract infections and reduce diarrhea.
