Feeling Better
If you eat healthy foods you will feel better. You may believe that because you are athletic and in good shape you can eat whatever you want and still maintain your health. However, if you eat healthy foods such as white meat chicken, fish, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, you will feel a lot better than if you eat fast foods, junk foods and heavy starches. Minimize your alcohol intake to one glass of wine or one bottle of beer per week.
Weight Control
By eating healthy foods you should be able to control your weight. Eating high-calorie foods such as pizza, cake and ice cream can put the pounds on your body. When you add weight like that, your body is more susceptible to diseases and conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke and certain types of cancer according to the National Institutes of Health.
Energy Level
If you want a high energy level, you should get rid of the fatty, oily foods in your diet and replace them with efficient foods like complex carbohydrates, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. You may have heard that your body is like a furnace. That furnace will burn much more efficiently if you give it fresh foods when you eat. Replace three large meals per day with four to six small ones. This will burn the fuel quicker and provide your body with more energy.
