An ayurvedic remedy for a urinary tract infection is a natural, time-tested way to treat the illness, based on traditional Indian medicine. Urinary tract infections are caused when bacteria gets pushed into the urethra and multiplies there. Urinary tract infections can cause burning during urination and intense irritation and itching. It is important to treat urinary tract infections because, if not taken care of, the bacteria can infect the kidneys.
Treat Urinary Tract Infections Using an Ayurvedic Remedy
Step 1
Mix three fourths cup of cranberry juice with a quarter cup of apple juice. Choose organic, pure, unsweetened juice if possible to avoid added ingredients and sweeteners. Drink this beverage throughout the day to fight the bacteria in the urethra.
Step 2
Brew a tea out of marshmallow root. This herb has powerful antiseptic qualities to clean out the urethra and kill bacteria. Place a marshmallow root in a small pot of water. Boil the marshmallow root for 10 minutes. Cover it and remove it from the heat. Allow the marshmallow root to infuse the water for half an hour. Drink this tea twice a day.
Step 3
Drink a lot of fluid throughout the day. In addition to the cranberry and apple juice mixture and the marshmallow root tea, drink eight cups of water. All of this fluid will result in increased urination. Though you may dread urinating due to the pain and stinging, it will wash out the bacteria and help clear the infection.
