A juice diet is a way to lose weight by eating less solid food. A juice diet is designed to flush toxins from the body by increasing fluids and eliminating junk food. You must extract the juice from various fruits and vegetables to get necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals from these healthy foods. There are many variations of a juice diet. A healthy juice diet consists of supplementing some solid foods for beneficial juiced fruits and vegetables for lasting weight loss and health benefits.
Step 1
Plan three meals of solid food each day. Include lean protein, low-fat dairy and whole grains. Breakfast should have between 200 and 300 calories. Lunch can be about 200 calories and dinner will be about 200 calories. Your solid food intake should be about 600 to 700 total calories. To achieve weight loss, you must burn more calories than you consume, but you shouldn't consume less than 1,200 calories each day to keep your metabolism up and your body functioning properly.
Step 2
Figure out how many calories you need to eat each day to lose weight. If you are going to consume the minimum of 1,200 calories daily, you can consume 500 to 600 calories from juicing fruits and vegetables throughout the day.
Step 3
Make fruit juices from fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not add anything (sugar, yogurt, ice cream, protein powder) to the juices. Use a juicer to extract the juice from fruits and vegetables. The only thing you can add to your juice is ice or water.
Step 4
Make juices using any combination of fruits or vegetables you can think of. Try to use a variety to get many different vitamins. Opt for inexpensive, fresh produce that is locally grown and in season. For example, try an apple and celery juice smoothie. Core two apples and place them into a juicer. Add a few stalks of clean celery. Squirt some lemon juice. Add some ice and blend until smooth and juicy. Keep track of the calories of each fruit and vegetable you use and drink juice whenever you are hungry between meals until you meet your allotment. Because you are not adding anything to the juice to pack on calories, you can have a lot of juice throughout the day.
