Although it is overall calories that determine weight loss, many weight loss plans claim that carbohydrate restriction is the key to losing weight. These diets can be difficult to follow, as many foods and dietary supplements, such as meal replacements, contain high levels of carbohydrates. However, there are some low-carbohydrate diet supplements that you can use to enhance the loss of weight and fat. These products range from stimulant fat burners, which claim to increase your metabolic rate and promote calorie burning, to appetite suppressants and fat blockers. Despite their effectiveness, these products may cause side effects, so consult a doctor before using them.
VPX Redline Princess
VPX Redline Princess is a ready-to-drink fat loss drink that contains zero carbohydrates and zero calories. This supplement contains a number of ingredients that simulate your central nervous system and may promote increased calorie burn, such as caffeine and yohimbine HCL. In addition, Redline Princess contains other ingredients with purported fat loss benefits, such as tyramine, hordenine and beta alanine. According to research published in the February 2009 issue of the "Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition," beta alanine may also improve exercise performance and endurance, which may help you burn more calories during workouts.
Orlistat
Orlistat is an ingredient that is also marketed under the name Alli. The supplement information website Drugs.com explains that orlistat may be effective for encouraging weight loss because it prevents your body from absorbing some of the fat you eat. This supplement may be particularly effective for low-carbohydrate diets because these weight loss plans tend to be high in fat. However, orlistat is not without side effects--Drugs.com notes that you may experience stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, rectal pain and loose stools when using this supplement.
CytoSport Muscle Milk Light
Although the original Muscle Milk is intended for use by those looking to gain muscle, Muscle Milk Light may be more effective for weight loss. This supplement contains 195 calories per serving, with just 11g of carbohydrates, making it suitable for low-carbohydrate diet plans. Muscle Milk Light contains 25g of protein per serving, which may encourage lean muscle mass and an increase in your metabolic rate. In addition, Muscle Milk Light contains 6g of fat. This fat may be beneficial, as some of it comes from medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs. According to the fitness publication "Nutrition Review," MCTs may aid in weight control because they increase energy expenditure, or calorie burning.
