In alternative medicine, apple cider vinegar is used to treat a variety of internal imbalances and skin conditions. The properties of apple cider vinegar differ from those of white and wine vinegars. When using apple cider vinegar it is important to buy raw, unpasteurized and unfiltered vinegar. When the vinegar is filtered the "mother" is removed. The mother of vinegar has a high content of malic, acetic and citric acids, which are helpful for the removal of skin tags, warts and moles. As with any natural remedy, consult your doctor before attempting to remove any tags, warts or age spots.
Step 1
Soak a skin tag in warm water for 20 minutes to begin the removal process. Next, apply apple cider vinegar to a cotton ball and place the cotton ball on the skin tag for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash the vinegar off and repeat daily. Skin tags are flesh-colored protrusions of tissue that are commonly found on the face and neck, but can be found on other parts of the skin as well.
Step 2
Soak a cotton ball or the top of a Q-tip with vinegar and place it any warts you might have. Apply a bandage to the top of the cotton ball, securing it to the skin. Leave the cotton ball in place overnight or all day long. Remember to change the cotton ball daily if you leave it on all throughout the day. The wart should turn into a dark scab and fall off. Be sure to continue the treatment for a few extra days after the wart falls off to attack the root of the wart. Otherwise the wart will return.
Step 3
Dab age spots, or liver spots, with apple cider vinegar every night before you go to sleep. Do not wash off the vinegar. If you feel a stinging sensation, dilute the vinegar with water. Wash off in the morning.
Tips and Warnings
- If you find that the skin around the age spot, wart or tag becomes sore, apply Vaseline or oil such as almond or olive oil to the surrounding skin before applying apple cider vinegar. This will protect the skin.
- Do not use white or wine vinegars to treat skin conditions. Do not try to remove genital warts with apple cider vinegar.
