What Are the Ingredients in the Fast Track Detox Diet?

The Fast Track Detox Diet is a detoxification and weight loss program designed by the nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman. The program consists of three distinct parts: a week of daily meal plans comprised of foods that, according to Gittleman, will prepare your internal organs for the detoxification process; a day-long fast in which dieters consume only a special juice; and a three-day return to the meals eaten during the first week of the diet. Each of the three parts of the Fast Track Detox Diet contains specific foods, juices and spices that, as Gittleman recommends, should be consumed exactly as specified to receive the full benefit from the plan.

Seven-Day Meal Plan Ingredients

In the initial seven-day phase of the Fast Track Detox Diet, Gittleman advises eating meals based primarily on organic fruits and vegetables. On each of the seven days, dieters should eat one to three servings of what Gittleman refers to as "liver-loving" foods; these include beets; celery; eggs; dark green leafy vegetables, such as asparagus, kale, mustard greens and broccoli; cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower; artichokes; garlic; whey protein; and citrus foods, such as limes, lemons and oranges. Each day should also include two servings of a lean protein like chicken or turkey breast and 1 to 2 tbsp. of olive or flaxseed oil. One daily serving of the following foods that Gittleman says benefit the colon should also be included: ground flaxseed, any type of berries, pears, apples, carrots and psyllium husks.

One-Day Fast Ingredients

The Fast Track Detox Diet's second phase, the one-day fast, features what Gittleman refers to as "miracle juice." By drinking 1 cup of this juice every hour accompanied by 1 cup of plain water, supporters of the diet claim you will flush potentially harmful toxins out of your body tissues and increase your metabolism rate. The miracle juice ingredients are cranberry juice, lemon juice, orange juice and ginger mixed with nutmeg and stevia. On the day of the fast, dieters are also instructed to begin and end the day with a serving of either psyllium husk or ground flaxseeds.

Three-Day Meal Plan Ingredients

Following the one-day fast, followers of the Fast Track Detox Diet move into a three-day meal plan phase that consists of the same ingredients as the initial week-long beginning of the diet, but with a few additions. According to the Every Diet site, in this final portion of the diet, Gittleman recommends adding specific immune-stimulating foods into your meals, such as low-fat yogurt that contains live acidophilus cultures and raw sauerkraut, which is organically produced.
