Corticosteroids

Diabetes either makes the body insulin resistant or destroys cells in the pancreas that create insulin, a condition that affects the blood glucose as insulin helps the body convert blood glucose into energy. The Chemocare.com website reports that taking corticosteroids may also cause hyperglycemia. Those taking corticosteroids often develop high glucose levels. Blood glucose levels return to normal without medical intervention when the course of corticosteroids ends.
Immunodeficiency Disorders
Frequent infections may result from diabetes, according to MayoClinic.com. An immunodeficiency disorder, which involves malfunction of the immune system, can result in infections that develop and recur more frequently. Merck Manuals notes that while immunodeficiency disorders can result from diabetes, other disorders, such as cancer or HIV, or use of a specific drug, can also cause an immunodeficiency disorder.
Prostatitis
MayoClinic.com reveals that frequent urination commonly occurs in diabetes, likely as a result of the kidney damage. MedlinePlus reports that prostatitis also causes frequent urination in sufferers. This condition results from a bacterial infection of the prostate gland, which can come from a urinary tract infection, sexual transmitted infection or problems of the urethra or prostate.
