If you are trying to eat healthfully but feel that all the healthy foods offer nothing in the way of flavor, do not run to the nearest store to buy that bacon you have been dying to sink your teeth into, or give all that healthy food to your dog. Instead, find healthy ways to make those foods more appealing to your taste buds. According to the Pueblo Colorado Federal Citizen Information Center, eating healthy can prevent the development of diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.

Step 1

Dress a salad with a tasty dressing if you hate the taste of lettuce and most other vegetables. Toss a cup of shredded lettuce into a salad bowl, along with a chopped fresh tomato and a piece of chopped cucumber. This medley of healthy vegetables might not have what it takes to make your taste buds scream "Wow," but maybe an interesting salad dressing will. Add balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing to your salad for great flavor, or if you prefer, dress up your salad with Italian dressing. Honey mustard dressing is another good choice. Lime vinaigrette or raspberry dressing could make your taste buds happy, too. Choose whatever dressing you like best, but keep it healthy by making it the low-fat kind.

Step 2

Rub chicken the right way. Unadorned chicken breasts taste about as good as a picture of them. To make them more tasty, rub them with some olive oil and a combination of spices such as garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin and chili powder. Bake the chicken breasts in a 350-degree preheated oven for 25 minutes. If you like the taste of lemon, broil the chicken breasts, then dip them into a bowl of freshly squeezed lemon juice to which you have added three chopped garlic cloves, some oregano and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Never add salt if you want to eat healthfully.

Step 3

Add great flavor to beans. Beans are one of the healthiest foods you can eat, but beans without a little hot sauce and some other ingredients can taste bland. Change your impression of beans by adding cooked beans such as kidney or pinto beans to a pan of crushed garlic sauteed in a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. When just about done, throw in some chopped, fresh cilantro and some hot sauce to taste. Add extra olive oil, garlic, hot sauce and cilantro if you plan on having your beans over cooked brown rice. The rice and beans together with the hot sauce will give this dish what it needs to keep you eating healthfully.
