Cellulite has shown up on your body and you find dimpled skin that you want to cover up. Cellulite develops when fat cells accumulate beneath the skin within the connective tissue of your body. The pattern of the connective tissue causes this cottage cheese or bumpy appearance that you see. Take steps to manage this fat, that is sometimes called cottage cheese. Getting rid of cellulite requires the same efforts that you would use to get rid of excess body fat, cleaning up your diet and participating in strength training and cardio exercise.
Step 1
Perform cardio exercise to remove excess body fat. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, you should perform cardio exercise fives times per week. Work at a moderate to intense pace for 30 to 45 minutes each session. Examples of cardio exercise include running, swimming, cycling, aerobics classes and basketball.
Step 2
Tone your muscles with strength training two to three days a week to prevent cellulite formation, build lean muscle tissue and reduce cellulite. Train your arms, legs, shoulders, chest, back and stomach. According to the American Council on Exercise, you should perform one set of eight to 12 repetitions for each exercise.
Step 3
Reduce your daily caloric intake to lose weight gradually. Remove 250 calories from you diet to lose half of a pound per week. Eat smaller portions during meals and snacks to avoid overeating.
Step 4
Eat more nutrient dense foods and less processed junk food to reduce your fat, sugar and calorie intake each day. Nutrient dense foods are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants without excessive amounts of fat, sugar and calories. These foods include fresh vegetables, fruits, calcium rich dairy products, whole grain breads and protein from lean sources.
Step 5
Discuss medical interventions with your doctor. Laser and radiofrequency system treatments can be used to reduce cellulite. According to MayoClinic.com, you will receive treatments twice a week with the results lasting for up to six months.
