Weight loss shake programs are designed to help you lose weight by reducing daily caloric intake. The programs usually entail consumption of meal replacement shakes instead of regular meals. The number of meals you replace per day depends on the specific weight loss shake program you follow. Many weight loss shake programs claim to be nutritionally sound and well balanced. However, it is best to do your own research and choose a program that provides the nutrients your body needs for sustainment.

Slim-Fast Weight Loss Shakes

Following the Slim-Fast shake program, participants are instructed to follow a three-step process to attain weight loss success. Each Slim-Fast shake is either 180 calories or 190 calories, and comes in flavors such as French vanilla, creamy milk chocolate and cappuccino delight. For best results, Slim-Fast recommends replacing two meals with either a shake or meal bar. The remainder of the daily plan allows consumption of three snacks and one 500 calorie meal.

New Lifestyle Diet Shakes

The New Lifestyle Diet claims to help you lose weight rapidly without compromising your lean muscle mass. The New Lifestyle Diet program recommends a daily meal schedule of five servings of either a shake or pudding and one 336 calorie dinner meal consisting of 8 ounces of lean meat and 2 cups of vegetables. The program also recommends you take a multivitamin and drink eight cups of water daily.

HMR Weight Loss Shakes

HMR weight loss shakes were developed by physicians and claim to be clinically proved to help dieters lose weight. HMR offers four types of shakes that range from 100 calories to 170 calories. The HMR weight loss plan recommends replacement of three or more daily meals with a shake for effective weight loss. HMR encourages consumers to consult a physician before use and warns against using the shakes as a sole means of nutrition without medical supervision.
