An electric razor places downward pressure on the skin, pushing out the hair, which is then cut by mechanical razors. While this option may seem better for your skin than traditional shaving, you can still get razor bumps if you are not careful.

Step 1

Wash the hair with soap and water to soften it up and prepare it for removal.

Step 2

Rub a pre-shaver moisturizing lotion into your skin. This will help the razor slide over the surface and make your skin more resistant to damage.

Step 3

Run your hand over the skin in order to determine which direction the hair is growing. This will help you decide which direction you will shave.

Step 4

Pull the skin around the hair taut with one hand. Place the head of the razor on your skin and turn it on. Shave the hair from your skin by moving the razor in the opposite direction as the grain of the hair.

Step 5

Continue moving the shaver to remove all of the hair. Open the shaver up and properly clean it when finished.

Step 6

Rinse your skin with warm water and pat dry.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you have a razor with round blades, move it in a circular motion across your skin to ensure a closer shave.
