No one likes dealing with blemishes on their face. Scars and marks on the face can make you feel like no one is looking at you, and is focusing on your scars, instead. This can severely impair your self-esteem and make you want to hide away. However, there are ways to lighten the scars on your face if you're willing to try treatments and have the commitment to stick to them.

Step 1

Try tretinoin cream on your scars. You can obtain this cream by prescription and it works by lightening the pigmentation in your scars. With repeated use, this cream will reduce the appearance of your scars and improve the texture of your skin. Apply the cream once a day to the scars as directed by your dermatologist.

Step 2

Apply an over-the-counter hydroquinone cream to your scars. Be careful to dab the cream only on your darkened scars. Getting it on healthy skin could cause it to lighten. While you need to apply this cream diligently to see results, you must do so with caution, as permanent pigment loss could result.

Step 3

Use lemon juice on your scars. Use your fingertips to rub some freshly squeezed lemon juice directly onto your scars. Allow the juice to dry before rinsing it off well with warm water. Apply once per day. After several weeks, your scars should look lighter and less noticeable.

Step 4

Use a sunscreen on your face every day before venturing outdoors. Apply a SPF 15 formula sunscreen 20 minutes before heading outside to protect yourself from sun damage, which can darken scars. Likewise, many skin lightening treatments make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so protecting yourself is an essential part of treatment.
